Sterilisation is a medical procedure with the help of which a woman can block or stop her reproductive ability. But around 5 percent of women who do this after some period also look for reversal of sterilisation. This could be because of various reasons such as remarriage, a desire to have another child after a period of time, unnatural death of a child, sudden change in attitude or mental health of the child. Also women who do sterilization at a very young age may regret their decision later on.
Reversal from sterilization is available in most of the prominent health clinics. In fact it is a much popular concept nowadays. But before you go to any such clinic you should always have a good idea of the efficiency and safety of the method. For this you need to discuss the issue with your doctor very seriously. You should know about what effects it can have on your body and whether or not your body can handle reversal of sterilization. And only after the doctor clears you of your doubts you should go for this procedure so that you can have a baby again.
In the process of sterilization the fallopian tubes in a woman are either cut or tied so that the eggs do not get transported to the womb. Thus, it restricts the fertilization of eggs. Through reversal of sterilization the doctors try to re-connect the fallopian tubes if in case they are not damaged badly.
In the actual operation under the influence of general anesthetic Laparotomy is done to trim the fallopian tubes. This is done so that the fallopian tubes are reconnected. Reconnection is done using very fine sutures. This whole operation is done using an operating microscope. A woman who goes through this process has to stay in the hospital for at least a period of 3 days. Also in some patients reversal of sterilization is done with the help of keyhole surgery or laparoscopy.
In the US the average cost of doing this surgery would range between $10,000 to $15,000. While, in UK it would cost you around UK pounds 2,500 to Uk pounds 3,500, including the hospital charges and doctor’s fees. Because of the high pocket expenses many women do not think for this procedure.
In fact there is other alternative to reversal of sterilization- IVF or In Vitro Fertilization. But this procedure is also a costly one. So the most important thing here is that women before going for sterilization should always make a deep and serious thought whether they should go for it or not. And younger women at best should refrain from sterilization. In many cases if the fallopian tubes are badly damaged reversal of sterilisation cannot help you get pregnant again.
